Best Computer For Photo Editing and Photography

Best Computer for Photo Editing and Photography

If you are into photography and photo editing, you might be asking yourself these questions: What is the best computer for photo editing and photography? What is better: Mac or PC, laptop or desktop computer? The short answer: it depends. There are some things to consider before you make your choice. There are computers that are better for photographers and photo retouchers for a number of reasons. Read on to find out the answers to your questions.

PC or Mac?

The war between PC and Mac users has been going for years. Some Mac users claim that photographers, artists, designers and photo retouchers should use Mac. Should you listen to them? The truth is, both can work fine for you. So what is the difference then?

PC vs Mac

If you are a Mac user, I don’t think you are considering switching to PC and there are no reasons to do that. Macs require minimum setup, work smoothly, are powerful and offer high quality display. The last feature is very beneficial to those into photography. You might want to consider MacBook Pro 15-inch with Retina display, if you prefer using laptop for your photo editing. This is the best laptop for photo editing offering high quality display. If you consider using desktop computer, choose iMac 27″. I will explain more about the benefits of using both of these computers in the later section.

If you are a PC user, you might have doubts though. You constantly hear about editing photos on Mac and you may be thinking of buying a Mac just because of what others say: “Mac is better for artists, photographers and designers.” You might feel curious about photo editing results using Mac and if Mac is significantly better than PC. If it is time for you to change a computer and to invest into a new one, then you probably could give Mac a try. But if that is not your case, your PC can also work fine for you! All you need is to invest some money into some hardware, training and lenses (if you are a photographer). Your photo editing computer should be powerful, because all the photo processing tools, such as Photoshop or Lightroom run much faster on a good computer. If your computer is slow, you should do something about that and probably upgrade it. You might want to increase the memory of your PC. Here are the recommended PC features for photo editing and photography: 32GB of RAM, SSD hard drive, high resolution monitor, Intel “Core i” processor, 64 bit Windows 8.1 or 64 bit Windows 7 Professional and Nvidia graphics. You should also consider the video card options available for your PC. Although video cards are more relevant to gamers and video processing, it is important when working with more than one monitor. Lastly, you might want to look for the best power saving options on your PC. The best computers for photo editing offer low power consumption as you will be spending hours working on your images.

Bottom line: both Mac and PC work fine, but your PC should be powerful enough if you are working in photography photo editing field.

Laptop or Desktop?

Should you use desktop computer or a laptop for photo editing and photography? Consider this point carefully. Desktop computers are better for photo editing because most of them (Mac or PC) run faster and are more affordable. Although MacBooks in general are enough for photo processing, desktop is more recommended, unless you really need mobility. Most laptops have too small screens for photo editing. Moreover, you can get more RAM, CPU and more disk with less investment in desktop computer than a laptop. You might want to consider these desktop computers for editing photos: iMac 27″, Dell XPS 8700 Desktop or Asus All-in-One PC ET2701. From all the options listed, iMac 27″ with a Thunderbolt display is the best desktop computer for photo editing and photography. It is secure, easy to use, powerful, amazing display rendering and solid performance. For these reasons iMac 27″ is one of the most popular choices among artists all around the world.

desktop or laptop for photo editing

Which is the best laptop for editing photos? The short answer: MacBook Pro with a Retina display. Although there are a lot of really good PC laptops in the market, none of them would probably be better for photo processing than MacBook. It runs smoothly, it is fast enough and has a good display rendering. If you are still not convinced, you might want to try these PC laptops: Dell Inspirion 15″ Touch, Asus Zenbook UX301, Dell XPS 15 or HP Envy Touchsmart.

Bottom line: Desktop computers are better for photo processing. The best desktop computer for photography and photo editing is  iMac 27″, however, if you are always on the go and laptop is better for you, consider buying a MacBook with retina display.

Recommended Software For Photo Editing

Although there are a lot of photo editing apps in the market, you should consider using more professional photo processing tools and software for better results. Recommended software for any photographer or photo retoucher: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Creative Cloud, Nik Collection by Google, Alien Skin Software and Photomatix Pro. If you are a beginner, use Adobe Lightroom as you first photo editing option. Eventually, you might want to use Photoshop together with Lightroom. Nik Collection by Google provides wide selection of photo editing features, but it will take you time to learn using it. You might want to try it for free for 15 days. Alien Skin Software provides creative plugins for Lightroom and Photoshop, such as Exposure 7, Snap Art 4, Blow Up3 and Eye Candy 7.

If you are a Mac user, you are probably happy with your machine, no matter if it is a desktop computer or a laptop. If you are a PC user and consider investing in your computer, you might want to consider two options: buying a powerful PC or switching to MAC. Stick to what works better for you! Your PC is completely fine for photography and photo processing if it is powerful and fast enough.

coco chanel quotes about female beauty

~ “Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.”

~ “Women have always been the strong ones of the world. The men are always seeking from women a little pillow to put their heads down on. They are always longing for the mother who held them as infants.”

~ “A beautiful dress may look beautiful on a hanger, but that means nothing. It must be seen on the shoulders, with the movement of the arms, the legs, and the waist.”

coco chanel quotes about changes in life
~ “If a man speaks badly about all women, it usually means he was burned by one woman.”
